Super 8mm, Standard 8mm & 16mm Film - Convert or Transfer to DVD
Some of the first moving film was made in the late 1880's so the technology have been around for well over 120 years. Domestic home movies date back to the 1920's when 16mm film was first introduced onto the market. The 8mm format eventually became popular in the 1950's~60's because of its small size and with compact cameras made it ideal for the home enthusiast.
Film if stored correctly can last about 70 years before it becomes very difficult to project. The main problem with film is that it will shrink, buckle and become so distorted that it will not pass through the projection equipment. The image information will also fade due to atmospheric conditions, humidity, heat, light and chemical contamination from other film.
Most 8mm formats are now considered to be middle aged and should be transferred as soon as possible to avoid losing valuable family memories and history.
